I received this Zeno mini, and was immediately impressed by it’s small size and sleek design. It fits easily in even the smallest hand bag or make-up kit. The instructions were clear and detailed. So far, so good. Having two teen sons and the occasional break-out myself, I had plenty of opportunities to test the device on pimples of varying size and severity.
Here’s what I found: it seems to work best on pimples that are at the red and slightly raised stage. None of us found the tip painfully hot. It’s definitely hot, but it actually felt soothing on more inflamed pimples. And it does seem to clear pimples that are treated as directed. It’s not instant, but all appropriate pimples seemed to clear by 3 treatments. I say appropriate because, as the instructions clearly state, it does nothing for blackheads or cystic acne. Seriously. Don’t waste “zaps” on blackheads or deep, cystic pimples because it’s a wasted use of the expensive tips.
The down side for me is the cost of use. As everyone has mentioned, this thing sucks up batteries. For a teen, or someone with a lot of pimples, you’ll need to buy batteries in bulk. But at least you can find bulk batteries cheaply. The replacement tips, on the other hand, are expensive and proprietary. The cheapest I have found a 45-use tip is . They generally run about . When you consider 2-3 treatments each for most pimples, this gets expensive fast. I really wish Zeno would offer an a/c adapter to help make the unit more cost effective. Especially since the device does work and would make life as a teenager much easier for a lot of kids.
