Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 Stand Mixer The real thing I bought this recently to replace the Moulinex I’d had for years (all things fade in the end!). Having spent ages reading reviews for various possibles, I chose this for its price / accessories / sturdy design.

Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 Stand Mixer It arrived within 36 hours – well done Amazon – and took ages to unpack. But the range of accessories is amazing. I have used it several times now, and so far I am absolutely delighted. It made bread dough in the bowl (I used quick yeast) within a couple of minutes – and the dough slid easily off the dough hook, cut root vegetables in the chopper for a soup, and made a fruit smoothie in the liquidizer: effortlessly. I envisage an easier Christmas ahead – feeding the extended family! Once I got my head round the controls – simple enough but unfamiliar on a new gadget – it has been plain sailing.

Be warned, Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 Stand Mixer it is a heavy bit of kit however. More akin to a microwave than my old budget mixer. And takes up approx 30x30x30cm of space. So its best kept on the work-surface it will be used on, even if you stow the chopping and liquidizing attachments. The flat beaters and shredder disks store in the bowl, but the balloon whisk, chopping and liquidizing bits will have to be kept separately. Its also fairly noisy – but it works through jobs quickly by way of compensation.

It’s early days yet – its predecessor lasted 15 years or so – but so far, very very encouraging.
If you cook for hordes, or like to batch-cook to fill the freezer – this is ideal. If you don’t cook, but once made an omlette…
well with this in your kitchen at least you’ll look the part!
